Hammocks have new for this year a huge range of hammocks
and hammock
chairs which are produced from cotton certified as
both fair trade and organic by The
Fair
Trade Foundation and
SKAL. Each hammock is woven on a hand loom, then
finished on a treadle sewing machine, using traditional skills
and no electricity, resulting in a low carbon footprint.
The
process in which the hammock cotton is grown and woven is not
only as environmental as possible, it ensures good wages and conditions,
plus the payment of a fair trade premium for all those involved.
Our weavers group is certified by the International Federation
for Alternative Trade (IFAT).

Organic Farmers Association. Set up under the Chetna Project.
This group is comprised entirely of farmers whose land is 2 acres
or less. A premium is paid for the cotton they grow, which at
last is breaking the cycle of debt and poverty they have laboured
under for so long. In addition, all farmers have now returned
to the organic growing methods traditionally used by them. Returning
the soil to its original state, reducing the cost of growing and
resulting in pure, soft cotton and better health conditions for
the farmers as they are no longer using pesticides.
 The
group is now working towards securing their own cotton 'ginning'
mil, a move which will give them autonomy throughout the entire
process and eventually bringing an end to the living conditions
such as these pictured presently endured by itinerant cotton workers.
We
also manufacture our own wooden hammock stands which come from certified
sustainable sources and a variety of suspension accessories that
we have found work best to match the many different suspension possibilities.
For
9 years we have worked to improve and increase our range to stock
a wide variety of hammocks and hammock chairs that you won't find
anywhere else. All aspects of our business are run by us, from designing
our own colourways with our producers, to collecting from the docks
in our lorry, and carrying out our own despatch,to webmastering
our own website. It's all self-taught and very hands-on!
Everything
we sell has be tried and tested and is held in stock so we are geared
for quick despatch. Hammocks make unique gifts and although it is
difficult to giftwrap hammock frames we are very happy to include
a small card with a personal message on both at no extra cost. Either
